P2P Foundation

A global research network and wiki founded in 2005 by Michel Bauwens, dedicated to studying and advocating for peer-to-peer dynamics in society, economics, and governance. The P2P Foundation maintains one of the most comprehensive documentation resources for commons-based, cooperative, and decentralized community initiatives worldwide.

The Foundation’s work spans free software communities, urban and rural commons, Web3 governance experiments, and the theoretical frameworks (peer production, cosmo-localism, post-capitalist transition) that inform the Network Nations project. Bauwens’ three decades of observation through the P2P wiki provide the empirical database against which Network Nations concepts are tested.
