Self-organized efforts that advance Alliance purpose — the primary way members take action together.

Purpose

Activities are how work gets done in the Alliance. Rather than top-down projects assigned by leadership, activities emerge from member initiative. They allow distributed experimentation while maintaining connection to Alliance purpose.

Types

Activities take many forms:

  • Mapping — Researching and documenting the Network Nations landscape
  • Alliances — Building relationships with aligned organizations
  • Initiatives — Focused efforts toward specific outcomes
  • Grants — Funding programs supporting Network Nations development
  • Gatherings — Events bringing community together
  • Courses — Educational programs on Network Nations topics

Formation

Any Member may propose an activity:

  1. Draft proposal with clear purpose and scope
  2. Gather support from two other Members
  3. Announce to Alliance
  4. Begin work

No approval required — only alignment with Alliance purpose and minimum support.

Coordination

Each activity has an Activity Coordinator who:

  • Organizes participants and maintains momentum
  • Keeps Alliance informed of progress
  • Ensures alignment with Alliance values
  • Brings activity to conclusion or transition

Relationship to Alliance

Activities are of the Alliance but not controlled by it:

  • Activities may use Alliance resources and visibility
  • Activities report progress to Alliance Assembly
  • Activities must align with Alliance purpose and values
  • Activities retain autonomy over their internal operations

Lifecycle

Activities may:

  • Complete — Achieve purpose and conclude
  • Transition — Hand off to new coordinator
  • Pause — Go dormant with option to reactivate
  • Wind down — Conclude without completing original purpose
  • Archive — Become inactive after 6 months without activity
